SLEEP
Hotel San Jose:Located on South Congress near all of our favorite shops this kick ass hotel has minimalist rooms, a black swimming pool and champassions on the patio to boot.
Austin Motel: Right next to the San Jose with a character all it's own. Slightly less expensive than the Jose but still totally cute. Each room is decorated differently so that's pretty fun.
The Driskell Hotel: This hotel is right smack-dab in the middle of 6th street. It's the oldest hotel in austin which makes it pretty fancy, a little pricey and totally haunted.

SHOP
Parts and Labour: This consignment-only based shop has only 3 prereqs for it's merchandise: 1. It has to be hand-made, 2. It has to be made by Texans and 3. It has to be totally bad ass.
Big Red Sun: Is it a plant shop? Is it the garden of Eden? Is it a clothing and accessories store? Hell if I know, but man if it isn't the cutest store I've ever been to.
Moxie and the Compound: Almost all the goodies in this shop are hand-made. Moxie carries goodies for rockin moms and their babies as well as just dang cute stuff for everyone else
Blue Velvet: Located on the Drag across from UT this is some of the best vintage shopping in town. I dare you, double dog dare you, to find a better western shirt collection in the 78705.
Tesoros: This place is on South Congress and has Mexican Wrestling collectibles. Need I say more?
Prototype Vintage All mod all the time, handpicked vintage relics for the home.
South Congress Ave: When you just want to shop at a ton of cool stores, this is your street.

EAT
Guero's Quick, yummy Mexican right on South Congress, a nice side patio and even better margaritas
Mr. Natural All natural/ organic Mexican food. Order from the menu or do the buffet if you're in a hurry. Oh, do yourself a favor and get the spinach pineapple juice, yum yum yum!
Veggie Heaven Pretty much exactly how it sounds. The protein 2000 is legendary and it's right by all the good shopping on the drag. (Guadeloupe)
The Parlor Pizza. Beer. Dark lights. Loud Music.
Casino El Camino One of the last great places on 6th street, don't be fooled by the scary facade this bar has one of the best burgers in town
Jackalope The other last great place on 6th street, more good burgers and, hooray, waffle fries!
Curras A little out of the way but well worth it. Yummy mexican, great patio, awesome margaritas and inexpensive
Austin Java Co Once upon a time there was only one of these but like rabbits now there are a gazillion, ok, maybe 4. Anyway, they seem to be in all the best parts of town so no matter where you are you can have a good meal/cuppa jo/beer/giant slice of cake.
Saba Bluewater Cafe: Awesome Caribbean Cuisine and hands down the best mojito in Austin all tucked into a nifty old warehouse
Blue Dahlia Bistro If you find yourself lost on the east side and in want of the fanciest grilled cheeses known to man, stop here and all your dreams will come true.
Azul This place wins the award for: best sandwich, best patio, best decorated dining tables and nicest staff.
Mars Hooray, pretty new restaurant on South Congress with a great shaded patio (you need that in Texas!) and lovely fusion cuisine
South Congress Cafe A couple blocks south of Mars, this yummy spot boasts a recycled glass bar, pretty modern decor and an amazing procuitto salad. Beat that.

DRINK
Alamo Drafthouse: It's a movie theater! It's got buckets of beer! It's line-up usually includes Kung Fu, Dirty Dancing and Weird Wednesdays!
The Beauty Bar Hands down, the best DJ nights in Austin. Also, seriously good hipster sighting.
Casino El Camino: Yep, this place made both our food and drink list, just as good a watering hole as it is restaurant. A+++ all around.
Jackalope: The other great drinking spot on 6th and with a larger patio incase Casino's is full
Club DeVille: Great patio and people watching opportunities. The hot bartenders almost make the $6 cocktails worth it
Emo's: A 6th street legend, home of Stitch 2004 and 2005, we can't say enough good things about the best music venue in the live music capitol of the world.
Beerland: I'm pretty sure this venue made the cut by default. If you wander into almost any bar on Red River between 6th and 10th you've already got the odds in your favor (oh, but do avoid Spiros). Beerland is on Red River and 8th and sometimes the Satan's Cheerleaders are dancing there. Score.
Whiskey Bar: Is it Thursday? Do you want to dance? Do you want to pay $1 for wells? Well get your ass to Whiskey already.
Spider House: Best patio in Austin, hands down. Their coffee and boozy drinks are almost good enough to justify the slow service. Do yourself a favor, they say there is "table service" but unless you want to work on your beard while you wait for your chi latte, go to the counter.
Hotel San Jose: Not spending your nights at the San Jose? Well, there's still no reason to miss out on the 2nd best patio in town. Beer and Wine only.
Side Bar: Just off Red River on 7th, good juke box, big patio and pool tables.
The Peacock: Way the heck over on the east side, go here if your camping out with a friend in that part of town, or if you want to see the prettiest bar in austin with a stuffed bird.
The Longbranch Inn: Also on the east side but 12x closer to home base, pretty cool in a weird texas way, limited drink menu but lonestar beer and whiskey for miles.
